Year 7 Rounders Fixture

On Thursday 16th June, the Year 7's put their rounders skills to the test and faced the mighty Deanery. Considering this was their first rounders fixture and have never played before as a complete team they did brilliantly well. The Deanery won the toss and decided to take to the field first. The year 7's knew they would have to post a high batting score in the 1^st innings to win the mental battle and put doubt in the Deanery's minds.

After some good batting displays from the likes of Farrah, Veronkia and Austin, we managed to score 10 rounders off just 30 balls. Fielding was a lot more trickier as The Deanery had some handy batters, but Reece and Jodi made some brilliant catches and Anna showed some good post work along with Cadence. Holly was an outstanding bowler and disrupted their batting order. They scored only half a rounder more, so it came down to the last 15 balls in the 2^nd innings. A quick motivational talk from captain Reece and the team re-grouped and put on another excellent batting performance. It came down to the last ball and Abbey Park held their nerve in the field and managed not to concede any runs.

With the game going down to the wire, both teams ended up scoring a respectable 15 and a half rounders and Abbey Park walked away with a draw. Well done the Year 7's who played. Miss Caldwell is very proud and is looking forward to the next game to see how far this team can go!
