The House System

At Abbey Park School, our House System is a central part of school life, designed to support students throughout their journey and help them grow, thrive, and turn potential into performance.

Our five houses are named after iconic local landmarks: Avebury, Barbury, Kennet, Stonehenge, and Whitehorse. Every student is assigned to a form group within one of these houses, creating a sense of belonging and community from day one.

Each house is led by a dedicated team of staff and student leaders, including two House Captains and several House Representatives who form part of our School Council. Together, they help develop leadership, teamwork, and school spirit.

Those who consistently embody these values receive R4 awards, recognising their outstanding contributions. Our Behaviour for Learning policy plays a key role in house standings, with both positive and negative points contributing to each house’s overall performance.

Throughout the year, the House System offers a wide range of opportunities for students to get involved in competitions, fundraising events, and community activities. These include supporting national charities such as Children in Need, Sport Relief, Red Nose Day, and Race for Life.

Each term concludes with a House Assembly, where Heads of House celebrate achievements, highlight student successes, and share updates on house standings.

One of the most exciting events of the year is our Annual House Colour Run - a celebration for the top-performing pupils within each house. Students who have consistently demonstrated PROUD values and contributed to their house’s success are invited to take part in this fun-filled event. It’s a joyful way to reward hard work, promote physical activity, and build lasting memories.
