The House System

Here at Abbey Park School, our house system is designed to guide you through all of these experiences by providing you with a strong foundation of support to help you to grow and turn your potential into performance.

Our house system is named after local landmarks. They are; Avebury, Barbury, Kennet, Stonehenge and Whitehorse. All pupils are assigned to a form group within one of these houses.

Each of the Houses are led by a dedicated and supportive team. Each house has two House Captains and a number of House Representatives who form our School Council.

Reward Points are awarded for positive behaviours that reflect our PROUD values of being Positive, Respectful, Open-minded, Unique and Determined. Students who continually reflect these values are then awarded R4s. At the end of each term, the house with the most Reward Points and fewest negative points will be rewarded with a treat that is chosen by the house members.

The Heads of Houses work closely together to create a variety of activities for pupils to raise money, compete against one another and earn Reward points. The schools Behaviour for Learning policy directly impacts everyone, negative and positive points are allocated to the students and impacts the overall house standings.

Throughout the year the house system provides the pupils with many opportunities to take part in competitions and events to raise money for charities including: Children in Need, Sports Relief, Red Nose Day, Race for Life and many more. Once a term there is an assembly where the Heads of House celebrate the achievements of the pupils for each house, from across the term.
