24.06.21 Kiera D is a Year 10 student that has been fighting Acute Myloid Leukaemia/Ommaya Reservoir in head/Cardiomyopathy and has been having treatment since December 2017. Kiera has missed so much school since joining in Year 7. Despite her diagnosis, Kiera continued her education through the school hospital and virtual lessons via TEAMS from her school class teachers. Keira is an amazing, kind, gentle, friendly and enormously courageous young lady. Keira is so strong and determined and was given the approval of her medical team to return in June 2021. We are extremely delighted to have Kiera back in school. To celebrate her return to school I wrote to one of her heroes, Marcus Rashford, and asked if he could send a message or something to cheer her up whilst she is still having treatment. To my delight, Marcus Rashford, sent in a signed Manchester United football shirt and signed photo of himself. We held a little party for Kiera to celebrate her return to school with some of her friends and presented her with the gifts. I am incredibly proud of Keira, she always completes school work to the best of her ability and is a true inspiration to not just the students but adults too.
