Year 8 Rugby Squad

Last week, the year 8 rugby squad went to Swindon Supermarine to play in the annual Swindon rugby festival.

They were placed in a group with St. John's, Malborough, Nova Hreod and Commonweal.

We had a last ditch 15-10 win in our first game against a strong St John's team. We then followed up with a 5-5 draw against Commonweal. Our last group game was a convincing 20-0 victory against Nova Hreod.

The semi-final saw us come up against Wootton Bassett. An extremely hard-fought game ended up with us winning by 15-10.

The final was an all TPAT affair against LPA. We had played one more game than them en-route to the final and I think it showed as our boys started the final slowly, losing 3 tries in a row. We then rallied through excellent tries from Max T and Jacob H. Our hopes of a dramatic comeback, however were dashed by a further late try from LPA.

A great effort by all the boys who conducted themselves in a way that would make 'Abbey Park PROUD' all afternoon.
